This is a screenshot of Pulp Culture's site stats from the last month. Typically, it gets around 50 hits a day, mainly because I advertise it in my banners on the forums I hang around on, and somebody will click the link and typically go thru the archive, which is pretty impressive, 4 years of work.

(The spike on the far right is an example of a random archive run. 229 hits.)

Anyway, I've been wondering if I should consider running ads on the site, but I'm not sure if the traffic is enough to bring in some revenue.  Just something I've been pondering. Comment with any thoughts.

ProjectWonderful is something you can join, but at this current state, no advertiser will pay any money to host their ads unless it's free. Even people who have a thousand of hits each day become leeched like this. If the traffic picks up, however, more people wants to appear on your site and only then will PW fulfill its purpose: allow people to auction on your ad spot.

Your site layout could really improvements though. The template you're using is used on other comics, but when it comes to yours, it could simplier and have less gadgets on the comic pages (like the synopsis panel, for instance). And I probably mentioned this before, but make the strips smaller, both when it comes to the dimensions so that they don't stretch several screens, or plan the strip better with several lines in each panel so that you can decrease the number of panels you need. Much scrolling and punchlines that takes too long to build up makes the readers lose interest fast.

I had thought about something like that, but I guess if it's not worth it I won't bother. I've considered making a collection book, but I dunno if anyone would actually buy the thing.

Yeah, I know it's not perfect; I'm actually working on my own site for the comic at the moment. On that note, what website hosting would you recommend?

And I know my comics have gotten longer and longer, it's just a progression of my writing style. I might try to shorten them.

I use smackjeeves, actually. Took one template, fixed it up to my liking, and then I got myself premium membership and bought my own domain. And then it only required knowledge about changing colors and knowing where to add images.

Hmmm, that sounds cool. I could try to apply what I've learned about HTML to customize mine as well.

With only 50 hits per day it probably wouldn't get much money immediately. But it might be a good idea to put ads up anyway, just in case something of yours goes viral. That way you won't miss the initial rush and cash in big-time.

Hmmmmm. I dunno. Maybe if it gets to 60 or 70. If it keeps the same pattern for a while though, then if you want some pocket moneys then sure.

Well, I would say the average is closer to 100, but then there are days with less than 20 here and there. So I dunno how much the average should really be.

Hmm. Maybe try the Google Ads thing that Serebii uses?

Bleah. I'd rather try Project Wonderful. They advertise other webcomics and stuff.
